An Important Announcement From OfficeNinjas Founders →We’re Taking a Hiatus

Taking a Step Back to Move Forward

July 12, 2022

We’ll start with this: we’re so proud.

We’re proud of the last 10 years and what OfficeNinjas has accomplished. The tenacious team we assembled and this tight-knit community we’ve built.

We’re proud of the awareness, respect, and support we’ve helped bring to the entire Admin+ profession.

We’re especially proud of you. The new skills you’ve challenged yourself to practice and master. The changes — big and small — you’ve made bravely, to bring more satisfaction to your work. The joyful camaraderie and generous support you show each other.

We are fiercely proud of you.

We’re proud of ourselves, too.

When we dreamt up OfficeNinjas in 2011 (during our honeymoon!), there weren’t too many opportunities for Administrative and Operations professionals to build peer networks and develop the skills needed to thrive in today’s workplace. Creating those opportunities became our driving purpose.

Since then, we’ve produced hundreds of in-person networking and learning events (notably the Admingling Event Series) across 11 major U.S. cities, attended by over 10,000 community members. From Silicon Valley to Chicago to New York City, every city brought tremendous energy and passion for the profession. We also partnered with over 450 trusted vendors and sponsors to keep event tickets affordable and to introduce reliable products + services to the community.

In 2019, we doubled down on our commitment to education. We hosted the first annual OfficeNinjas Con, a sold-out conference attended by Admins worldwide.

Beginning in 2020, we expanded our educational offerings, developing seven interactive courses on critical business skills and hosting hundreds of intimate P2P-focused gatherings (i.e. Mastermind, OfficeNinjas Studio, and Focus + Flow).

And perhaps our most innovative endeavor: Partnering with UC Berkeley Executive Education to deploy the first-ever executive-level Leadership & Communication Program for Admin+ professionals.

In this one-of-a-kind program, over 150 high-reaching Admin+ professionals stepped outside their comfort zone to explore leadership and communication learning usually reserved for executives — and dared to define their own authentic leadership style.

Meanwhile, each April (for a decade), we’ve honored Administrative Professional’s Day with a multiday extravaganza that included interactive learning and networking, entertaining giveaways, and well-deserved awards. We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the in-person Admin Bash events (the video reels from 2019, 2018, and 2017 say it all!).

And each week, we shared our carefully curated newsletter, providing a deeper understanding of the business landscape through actionable frameworks, emergent tools, and workplace trends.

Whew…!

OfficeNinjas has become deeply ingrained in our identities, and will always be.

We’ve worked tirelessly for a decade, dedicating our lives to the OfficeNinjas mission. We were honored to do it. We knew we were serving a deeply meaningful purpose: to ensure that every Admin+ professional has access to the education, resources, and community they need to lead a valued career and fulfilling life.

But, like so many members of the community who have recently taken a moment to step back to reflect on their careers and reconsider the future (your stories have moved us) — we know that, now, it’s our turn.

The reality is that leading a company as married co-founders was a 24/7 endeavor — eating, sleeping, and breathing OfficeNinjas often meant our personal lives were on the back burner. And now, at this stage in our life journey, it’s time for us to switch off the auto-pilot and take a real break. A break with ample time to reflect on where we’ve been, look inward and reassess where we are now, and discover the potential adventures that lie ahead.

So after much thought and discussion, we’ve decided to place OfficeNinjas on an indefinite hiatus and stop all business operations. This was an agonizing decision for us. But we’re confident that it’s the right course of action.

Regretfully, we’ve had to lay off our brilliant team and cancel all future programs and events. Our website and email accounts will remain active. While we can’t ensure that you’ll receive a prompt response (we’re doing our best to disconnect), you’re more than welcome to reach out to info@officeninjas.com.

We enter this period of uncertainty with so much love and gratitude for what we’ve experienced. And so much optimism for what the future holds.

One more thing. The most important thing. OfficeNinjas is on hiatus — but the relationships, skill-building, and unbelievable growth in courage and leadership are not. Keep advocating for yourself and each other. This is YOUR community. Always has been. And you are unstoppable.

From the depths of our hearts, thank you for being a proud part of OfficeNinjas. What an unforgettable journey we’ve taken together.

With so much gratitude,
Nancy and Edwin

  1. Dear Nancy and Edwin,

Best wishes for your future endeavours!
May success, happiness, and prosperity follow you wherever you go and whatever you do.

  2. Though I am no longer a professional OfficeNinja (2018-2021), I want to thank you for all you have done for myself, and the numerous others you have touched. I will continue to reflect fondly on the bashes, networking events, connections, and skills made throughout the past few years thanks to OfficeNinjas.

Best of luck on your next adventure!

  3. Brave. Wise. Invaluable.

Three words I believe most importantly describe the decision you’ve made. As partners in life for life, I pray that you not only individually receive the peace, rejuvenation and clarity that lies ahead but also that your marriage is strengthened is even more capable of being a force in the work you choose to do in the future.

Breathe. Smile. Love. And know you’ve impacted people in more ways than you’ll ever know.

  4. I’m genuinely sad to hear the news. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication over the years. I looked forward to your publication every week, and often shared them with my colleagues. Your work helped me grow as an administrative professional over the last seven years. Thank you!

  5. Congratulations! Congratulations on your successes, relationships you’ve built, relationships you’ve created between others within the community and their successes.
Congratulations on listening to your own internal messages and knowing when it’s time to make the change and actually taking that first step.
I recently came across pictures of my first Admingling event in Dallas and recall the excitement to meet each of you in person.
You’ve touched many and opened doors for many.
Pray you each thrive in this new phase of your lives.

  6. Thank you both for your tireless commitment to the Admin Community. You have been a life line for so many of us, a connector, a resource, an innovator and a fearless advocate. I appreciate all you’ve done and look forward to see/learning about your future endeavors. You will be missed!! Take care yourselves and have a little fun.

  7. Thank you for the hard work and wonderful content you have provided each week.
Also, thank you for your honesty as you pause to breathe and figure out what your right step is. I understand, my former husband was my business partner and it is hard to run a business with your significant other. No cause is worth potentially damaging your family relationships.
    All the best!

  8. All the best! I totally get it. I along with a business partner recently retired a 10 year empowerment group. Thank you for the many ways you’ve provided excellent resources and services to the admin community

  9. Thank you all for your sacrifice, time, hard work, dedication, and preserve. Be well.

  10. Thank you for everything you’ve done in this space. Thank you for validating the behind the scenes hero.

  11. God bless you for all you’ve done for us! Your programs, information, support has brought me so far in the past years!

As sorry as I am to see this go, I am thrilled to see that you actually are following your own advice! If you do not support yourselves, you cannot support others. Please know that you will be in my prayers.

We will be her if/when you should decide to re-enter this part of the business world, and we will be able to move forward with the support and assistance you have given us.

    Take care.

  12. You both created something special, the likes of which had never been seen, and will not be seen again, unless Office Ninjas is brought back. I regret that I never got the opportunity to attend one of your bashes in SF. I wish you both all the best. Lord knows you gave us all your best!

  13. You provided such valuable and meaningful resources to administrative professionals for so many years, and I thank you for that. Best of luck on whatever the future may hold for the two of you. Enjoy – you will be missed!

  14. Thank you both (and the team) so much for creating this amazing platform for Admins. All the best! 🙂

  15. Thank you for all the hard work, intros to amazing vendors, the fun, the tips and learning, connections and friendships, and so so much more! I learned so much and am better as an Admin Pro b/c of this org.
Y’all built a community – it was sometimes isolating in our role if your admin group was small or you were the only one (in a startup). There was nothing like OfficeNinjas.
I know you’ll rock whatever adventure is next for you all. Thank you, again.

  16. Thank you all for your awesome and inspiring trainings and events these past ten years. Enjoy your hiatus and I look forward to seeing what you all bring us Admin Professional in the future.

  17. Thank you Nancy & Edwin for all of your hard work these last 10 years. Office Ninjas was an amazing community of like-minded, enthusiastic and dedicated folks. Every time I attended or participated in an event, I was proud to be part of this supportive community and always left feeling better. I’ve been an Admin professional for 13 years and part of Office Ninjas/Org Org for almost as long! I wish you both well in your next adventure. Let’s keep this wonderful resource going any way we can!

  18. It is never easy to close the door, especially on something that you’ve spent so much time and energy on. I say sincerely that you have brightened my life with your energy and enthusiasm.

Thank you for everything. Wishing you the best on your next adventure! 🌈

  19. Thank you so much for all the hope and knowledge you have brought me over the years. I wish you luck in your new adventures, but I am very sad to see you go.

  20. Hi guys,

Unbelievably sad but completely understand! You have did so much for the administrative field and I personally am forever grateful to have met both of you. You are truly two of the kindest most generous people I have ever met and I want you to know that no matter where our paths take us, I’m so grateful we crossed pats.

    ❤️ Trey

  21. Wow! What an incredible walk down memory lane. I am so fortunate to have been a part of this awesome community. Thank you sooooo much, from the bottom of my heart, for all you have done. Loved every minute of every event and have learned so much over these past years. Best of luck in all your future endeavors! You will be missed! <3

  22. Thank you for your outstanding leadership, so proud of what all your accomplishments. Hate to see you go and certainly will miss reading the Office Ninjas newsletters. It was an amazing journey. Wishing you great success in your future endeavors and bid you a fond farewell.

    Cheers to the future,

  23. Oh my goodness! First off, congrats on recognizing you both need to take some time away and take care of yourselves, even though it means putting Office Ninjas on hiatus. Secondly, while I’m no longer in the corporate and admin world, I so appreciated the community you created for me and the countless other Office Ninjas. I loved being able to be part of your retreat in Santa Cruz, the Admingling events and just the community of people you brought together. I feel so honored to have been part of it and know you’ve helped so many grow in their careers and get the support needed to know that our roles mattered, even when we often felt undervalued, unseen or unheard. Thank you for celebrating the amazing Office Ninjas that are often the backbone of companies and supporting us. I still wear my Office Ninjas T-Shirt and have my tote and duffle bag. Enjoy your well-deserved break!! You will be missed!

  24. Thank you so much the excellent work you did to uplift the Admins/OfficeNinjas. Wish you all the best. Will miss you.

  25. Dear Nancy and Edwin,

While I will deeply miss ALL things OfficeNinjas – especially the well organized and FUN Administrative Professionals events – I understand your decision. The first event I attended was in 2017 and it was one of the very first and best Admin events I had ever attended. The acknowledgement, respect and love displayed for Administrative Professionals, games, peer networking, food, prizes, venue, and photo booth were over-the-top. Thank you both so much for that event and ALL the other events.

My appreciation can go on and on. Thank you both for a providing a safe and fun space for Administrative Professionals to excel and take much breaks from the work we do. The resources and again…those events will be missed.

Wishing you both the very best! Take care. After stepping back for a bit – I hope OfficeNinjas comes back! Re-add me to your mailing list! :)

    Gratefully,

    DeLana Minfield

  26. Thank you for everything you have done for the admin professional community. You gave a voice to many who never felt they had one! You gave us courage, strength and confidence to push ourselves to be more! Enjoy this time as you rest and look at the next best path for your future.

  27. Wishing you all the best. I discovered OfficeNinjas at the beginning of my Admin+ life at a startup nearly 8 years. I’ve relied on this community over the years and am glad to see how you and it have grown in ways that I and the startup I was a part of have grown. It’s pretty wild to see the directions all things take…all good things must come to an end I suppose. Thank you for the community building and information sharing. I’ve benefited a great deal from having this resource!

  28. Wishing you much luck on your future endeavors. Thank you for giving us a place to connect, share thoughts and get guidance. Blessings to you and your husband.

  29. Thank you doesn’t quite sum it up. I’ve enjoyed the events, articles and tools you provided. Good luck in your new adventure.

  30. Thank you Nancy and Edwin for giving us the gift of OfficeNinjas! OfficeNinjas may be on hiatus, but you can’t take the Ninja out of admin. You provided us the tools and now we need to use them while we step out into our own journeys. Blessings to you both and your team! You rock!

  31. Best of luck on your future endeavors! Enjoy the time together! After my husband just spend a month in the cardiac ICU it is a blessing to have him home and cherish every moment we have. Great idea to step back, evaluate and move forward with a fresh perspective. Cheers!

  32. Thank you so much for the amazing community of Office Ninja you created. The relationships/friendships that have been made through all of these events will last for ever. I feel so lucky an priviledged to be a part of an amazing group. I’m so excited for you both and your next adventure.

  33. Thank you very much for your dedication during all this years. Enjoy your new adventure. One day at a time. God bless you all.

  34. What you have done for the Administrative community is unparalleled. I think each and every one of us are grateful for your dedication all these years.
You know what’s best for you! So bittersweet- Thank you for everything yall have done!

  35. Thank you for inspiring, empowering, and loving us! You make your mark, and we’re all the better for it!

  36. Thank you for all the inspiration, motivation, knowledge sharing, and fun, it will be missed! Blessings to both of you and your team as you embark on new paths of discovery.

  37. Still remember meeting you both at an Admin event in NYC. I remember taking part in my first ON event just a few days later. You gave us a community that led to friendships and empowering one another in our chosen field. There weren’t many of those around back then.

I’ve watched ON take off and there couldn’t have been two better people at its helm. You both are wonderfully caring people. Youve given so much of yourselves to us and it showed. As sad as i am to read this hiatus, I am glad you are taking time for yourselves now. You both deserve this break more than anyone. Here’s to some rest, relaxation and to the next chapter ahead.

  38. What a list of accomplishments! So much to be proud of <3

  39. Nothing but big gratitude for all your hard work these past 10 years. I learned so much from EVERY piece of information ever shared. You will be missed but I am thrilled you are making the changes you need to make. Bravo for all the things!!

  40. Thank you for everything you’ve done. Luckily there are plenty of communities out there. Thanks for being trailblazers in this industry, best of luck!

  41. Nancy and Edwin,

Thank you for 10 years supporting the Admin+ community. You’ve made a lasting impact.

All the best to you as you rest, reflect, refresh, and plan your next steps.

    Karen

  42. Edwin & Nancy, I discovered OfficeNinjas during a time I really needed fresh insight and connections in the Admin+ world. It has been an invaluable resource. All your hard work for the last 10 years has created such an amazing community; and now it is time for you to take time for you. You and your team will be thoroughly missed, as I looked forward to the emails and insights, but I am excited for you for your next chapter…whatever that may be. Thank you for everything.

  43. I’m proud of *you*. You did so much for advancing the cause and advocating for Admin+ professionals, raising their visibility, and highlighting how much respect they deserve. It takes a lot to step back from something to which you’ve given so much, something you care so much about, but it’s important to give to yourself as well. I’m glad you’re taking that time. It’s really what you would encourage Ninjas to do. Good luck and best of everything for you.

  44. I believe it’s a wonderful thing to unload to rewire ourselves. Wishing you good luck for all future endeavors or actually no endeavors but just be yourselves.
    Much love

  45. As I scroll through the comments, I see nothing but love and support from everyone — exactly what you have given all of us over the years.

I am so proud of you and honored that you let us and our team join you for the ride.

Your work will be missed and I’m excited for you both to take the next step in your journey!

  46. Sad to see you all go, as I just found OfficeNinjas this year. I understand the need for balance though.

  47. As I sit here in literal tears, I want to share my utmost respect and gratitude to you both for holding space for this administrative professional community for so long. Thank you for the WONDERFUL opportunities along the way. I am deeply sad to see OfficeNinjas go but I am hopeful that this break is filled with rest, reconnection, hope, and inspiration for you both. Wishing the team that has worked alongside of you much success in the future. I hope wherever you land, that our paths cross again someday.

    All my love,

  48. Nancy and Edwin – much love and respect for prioritizing yourselves in making this difficult decision. THANK YOU (and team) for your endless commitment and advocacy to the administrative profession. We are all better for it!

You will always have my support, and if there is anything I can do, please reach out. Thank you for all you have contributed! You guys rocked it, and I hope you will come back stronger than ever!

  60. Thank you Nancy, Edwin and team!! This community has been life changing for me, and even more so during the last couple of years where I needed a community the most. Best of luck on your next chapter

  61. Completely understandable decision. You gave a great deal to the administrative+ professional domain. While you and OfficeNinjas will be missed, you can enjoy the next chapter in your professional and personal lives knowing that you have left an indelible mark on the world and have helped so many individuals lead better professional and personal lives through OfficeNinjas.

    Thank you!

  62. What else can I add that hasn’t already been said. Thank you for your vision of what us Ninja’s can accomplish. Time to be your own Ninja’s now!

  63. OfficeNinja for life! Good for you two… I truly wish you both all the best!!

  64. Thank you for all you have done for our community!! It really brought value to a lot of us and an amazing resource created. This was the first “community” and networking I realized was available for EA’s and it made a huge difference in my personal outlook on what and how we function and the value WE bring to the job everyday.

  65. Thank you for the last five years that I have had the joy to be part of this community. You have made more of a difference for me professionally than any other organization. Thank you. And I wish you all the best in your new adventures.

  66. Thank you so much for everything you’ve done in the last ten years. I know I’ve grown as an Office Ninja from so many different programs! Cheers to all your hard work and best of luck in your next adventures!

  71. Thank you for the past 10 years. I am very grateful for the inspiration, ideas and the encouragement office ninjas has given to me.
Please take care of yourselves. 💕

  72. Dear Nancy, Edwin, and all of the OfficeNinjas Staff,
This community that you’ve built is amazing., from the newsletters, to the Admin+ week and then month celebrations, to the Collective, to the UC Berkeley program! Good GOLLY!! I have so much gratitude for you and your dedication to us all. Thank you for providing me with tools and opportunities to grow in ways I never thought possible. I will miss you and am proud of your decision. I support YOU too! Please let us all know how we can be of further support to you. After all, that is really our wheelhouse! 😊 Beaming you all the love and peaceful vibes your way – envision it like a Care Bear’s belly badge beaming from Chicagoland to California! 🌈

  73. Thank you for sharing your very core of yourselves with us. Although I was relatively new to Office Ninjas it was a wonderful experience. As you stated we are equipped and have each other for support. I want to wish you both the very best, and I am so proud of you both for putting each other first, and doing what is truly important, and no one can fault either one of you for it. You have enriched many lives and we are grateful. I wish you both the very best life has for you…well done!

  74. The Office Ninjas community was an incredible resource for me through the years and I will miss the connection but completely understand the need to step back. I wish you both much peace, love, and happiness in the future.

  75. Can’t begin to tell you what a difference this group has made in my career. Especially the UC Berkeley education opportunity. In the few years since, I’ve increased my earnings significantly and was recently promoted, becoming the first Senior EA at my company. You have inspired and encouraged more people than you realize. Wishing you all the best on this new journey! THANK YOU.

  76. Thank you for 10 years of interesting, fun, and innovating office stuff!!! May your new adventures be truly amazing! You and Office Ninjas will be missed.

  77. While it’s sad to hear this, I applaud you for being brave to know what is right for you. Like many here, thank you for giving you all, I have been with you since the beginning, and my EA community has been more vital with all the learnings, connections, and instrumental when I was ready to take the leap with my own solopreneur journey. Now, it’s time to breathe, refresh and think of the next adventure to take. Good luck!

  78. Thank you so much for everything you both and your team has done for office ninjas. I have enjoyed every moment and every event that I was able to attend, I learned so much from everyone!! Going to really miss this close knit community that you both have started.

Congratulations and best of luck in the next ventures!

  79. Congratulations on all you’ve accomplished and best wishes, Nancy and Edwin! You’ve inspired us, you’ve connected us, you’ve change so many lives. As sad as I am about the loss of OfficeNinjas, I’m even more excited for you both as you begin a new chapter in your life together. I’m sure we’ll cross paths again. :) Until then, take care and happy travels!

  80. Thank you for sharing your heart and lives with us over the last decade. I’ve enjoyed every newsletter and learned so much over the years. I’m saddened by the news, but happy for the time of reflection that you guys need. Rock on!

  81. The thing that resonates most from my time following OfficeNinjas is this:

“To be your best, you need to rest”

Thank you for all you have done for the Admin+ professionals community ♥️

  82. Congratulations on this next step – I am sure it was a hard decision to make but know how impactful you have been to all of us in our careers. I have enjoyed getting to know your team and am grateful for the experiences shared!!! THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!!!! If there is anything we can do to help your team – please let us know!

  83. It’s refreshing to see this. So often people put business and money before their own mental health and that is the wrong approach. You can only fill the cup of others if your own cup is full first. Thank you for everything you’ve provided over the years. I’d be thrilled to see you come back stronger, but if you didn’t, that’s okay too. Life is full of twists and turns and I love seeing when people turn new pages and start new chapters. Here’s to a breath of fresh air and relief that you can move on to the next phase.

  84. Thank you so much for your tireless dedication to an Amazing profession! As an Administrative Professional and business owner, I completely understand having to make difficult decisions. Thank you for sharing your insight and knowledge. You will definitely be missed!
Wishing you the very best in your future journeys!

  85. So very grateful for this amazing community you’ve created. Take good care and thank you for the many years of growth, network opportunities, and even fun!!!!!

  86. Enjoy your well deserved break and sit back and relax. Thank you for all that you both have done for the Administrative community! ❤️

  87. Wishing you both all the best. I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the information and training you have shared. I took the Leadership & Communication program. It was life changing for me. So thank you again. Warmest regards.

  88. As all the others have commented we are sorry to see you go but there comes a time when we all need to put ourselves first. Thank you for everything you have taught us. I hope that someone will pick-up where you are leaving off as this was the best thing to happen for many new and experienced administrative professionals. I wish you both the best and know the future is yours.

  89. What an awesome journey the two of you have been on. Thank you so much for all that you have done to birth such a wonderful, inspiring idea and providing so many opportunities for everyone in this community. I am sorry to hear you are stepping away from OfficeNinjas, but I look forward with you to your next stage in your journey. I wish you both the very best!

  90. Hi Nancy and Edwin! Congrats on the community that you built together. It’s an incredible achievement. I know this must have been a very tough decision to make. All the best to you both!

  91. I am so sorry to hear that. I am about to start looking for a job one level above my current admin title and was hoping to use Office Ninja’s as a resource. Currently I am fully onsite in the office but my next job (which I will be looking for very soon) might require me being hybrid or WFH and I don’t have a clue how to navigate that. If it makes you feel better, I am still using the lanyard (wearing it right now in fact) that I got at one of your Ninja events in SF so I literally have you guys close to my heart. I sincerely hope that you guys come back someday. I’ll put in my personal email in the below field in case I’m elsewhere by then. Good luck to you both!

  92. They only person that can take care of you, is YOU.

I wish the best for you both!

  93. Dear Nancy & Edwin,

Reading your email made me tear up. I met you both at an Admingling event so many years ago and was hoping that I would get to see you both again once we opened back up fully. This is such a bitter sweet moment though and I’m praying for you both and wishing you lots of love, peace, grace and mercy. Whatever God has in store for you will come to fruition and you both will, “Rock Out”! I love you guys and am happy for you. I will be cheering you on and routing for you from the sidelines. I’m now at ViacomCBS or rather Paramount. Please stay in touch and if you are ever back in New York, I will take both of you to lunch. You both will be sorely missed in this community.
