Here at OfficeNinjas HQ, we’re smack dab in the middle of the awards season—and we couldn’t be happier! Yeah, the Grammy Awards and the Golden Globes were fun, and the Oscars have come and gone, but we’re not talking about them, we’re too excited about the 2016 OfficeNinjas All-Stars Awards!

ICYMI, here’s a recap of everything All-Stars:

So far, the response has been incredible! We’ve already more than doubled last year’s nominations with entrants from companies like Instacart, Kiva.org, Time Warner, Best Buy, Google, Contently, and SoundCloud. Here are some of the glowing reviews from nominators:

“Our Executive Assistant Literally Goes the Extra Mile.”

Our Executive Assistant truly is an Office Ninja who just naturally goes the extra mile to ensure our office is healthy, happy and productive. A few examples include:

1) Without regard to it being the weekend or overlapping with her vacation plans, she has been known repeatedly to stay up all night working her magic to bring our stranded traveling employees home safely.

2) When we had a disgruntled employee who refused to leave the premises, she put herself in harm’s way to ensure he didn’t try to return to the office where he might threaten others (it didn’t happen, but she didn’t know it would turn out that way).

3) At an out of town tradeshow last year, about an hour before the event was to begin, it was realized that an important football game would be on TV and without a way to play it most of our guests would not come. She went into overdrive, got a cab, found the local Target and bought the biggest TV she could find. She got it set up and ready to go about 5 minutes before the guests arrived, many of whom asked if we would be playing the game. She truly saved the day! I could offer more examples of her above and beyond, get-it-done drive than you have space for.

So I’ll close in saying this Office Ninja kicks #$* every day and we’d be lost without her!

“Office Experience Manager? More Like Office Comedy Manager!”

Our Office Experience Manager uses positive reinforcement and humor to get all of our ducks in a row. The number of employees at our company is growing exponentially; it’s not an easy job. He enables us to keep our office clean so that we can all reap the productive benefits of working in a clean, orderly space. Everything is labeled in the kitchen. If you can read, you can find it.

He sends us awesome emails like the following:

Subject: “And it’s not even my bday!”

Body: [photo of banana peels, strawberries, apple cores and used lemon wedges on a cutting board]

Text: “Thanks for the gift, but…Please throw away your scraps.” :)”

She Looks After my Calendar, Several Office Floors and my Sanity!

In my new role as director of our largest division I immediately became overwhelmed with meeting invites, folks trying to get a hold of me, travel. I was used to handling all of this on my own but I was quite literally drowning trying to sort it all out myself and saying “yes” to everything.

Then our Office Manager booked a meeting with me, sat me down, and basically told me how things would work. She took control of my calendar, routed all requests for my time through her, and took over travel arrangements. Next, she shared my calendar and appointments with my wife, and schedules after-hours events as well.

Everything is now in sync and, for me, it’s been a revelation. This one thing has made me significantly more productive. She also guides me on how to better leverage her so I can be even more on point and able to crunch through work. In addition, we recently expanded our office footprint, moving into multi-floor space.

Here, she does a fantastic job coordinating company events, keeping conference rooms ready for clients, and keeping everything in order. The fact that one can’t tell how any of this is actually happening day-to-day is testament to her skill, care, and hustle. She has helped me tremendously–I can honestly say that I wouldn’t be able to do what I do without her!

But we know there are more amazing Ninjas out there, and we want them to be recognized!

We’re accepting nominations through March 18, 2016, so there’s still time to put your favorite workplace warrior in the running. And, if you’re a Ninja who’s wondering if maybe you’ve got the right stuff (spoiler alert: you do), we’ll happily send your boss or co-workers information about the contest and how they can nominate you. Just provide us with their email address here.

It’s time for Office Ninjas everywhere to step out of the shadows and into the spotlight! Get those nominations in!

  1. Chris is surely our office Ninja for sure. I have yet to find anything that Chris can and will not get handled. She is the best Executive Assistant that I have ever had and she years to learn more everyday. She is so amazing in so many ways and a very good person as well.

  2. Lori is truly our office Ninja!!!
She keeps us engaged in everything from division updates and team events to when we should join development opportunities. I like knowing that although her immediate job is being executive administrator to our Sr. VP, but also to keep us in the know and expands beyond her immediate tasks to ensure she has a professional relationship with our team. She is a true team player and I enjoy working with her daily.
Lori is also a mentor and trainer for other administrative assistants and we all really appreciate her professional efforts to keep us on track!
Lori regularly emails and personally visits our desks to advise us of department updates and opportunities to enhance our personal development. When I first arrived a little over two years ago, she provide information and guided me through joining and participating in Toastmasters. As the VP of membership, she was engaged and professional. After I joined , I became the VP of membership and she encourage me with examples of her experiences.
Lori’s commitment and professionalism stands out! She works to develop her professional skills as well as others. I have experienced personally and heard from many who have been helped and truly appreciate her efforts.
I believe she is truly deserving of being the office ninja and couldn’t see anyone doing it with more heart felt enthusiasm and professionalism.
I hope I’ve added enough but can add even more if needed.
Thank you for allowing me to provide input to her accomplishments at USP!!!
